I like to encourage people. I like inspiring confidence in those around me, I like to point out their strengths and strong points, to help them see the great in themselves. I like to help people grow and keep supporting them whenever they set goals for themselves and try to achieve them. It's a lovely feeling, watching those I like growing stronger and better in their talents and skills.
And when they tell me that they've achieved great goals, that their hard work has paid off, I am so happy for them.
But...
At the same time, I suddenly feel so sad about myself. I feel like such a failure. And, once again, I find myself wishing that I could - for once - achieve my own goals, to be able to succeed. I wish that, for once, I will try my hardest and actually gain something good from it, other than fail and fall flat on my face, like I usually do all the time. I wish I could keep some of the support for myself.
It's the same for Uriel (my character, not...well...me). As the Archangel of the Winds of Change, it's his responsibility to make sure others feel good and happy, and to see that "every cloud has a silver lining". But he keeps none of it for himself, because he can't.
Uriel cries a lot more than the others realise, because he can't see bad situations and problems in the same light that they can see them in. His dark and gloomy view on everything makes his problems seem worse, and he can't find a way to make things look bright for himself, no matter how hard he tries. So he stands alone, in a remote corner of Heaven, and cries bitter tears.
(I have no idea why I've drawn him chibi)
~~~
I feel so selfish. There are people in this world that would kill to have my life, and all I can do is cry and bitch and moan about it.
It's good to be selfish once in a while, it means that we're still considering and thinking about ourselves.
I love the chibi, it's too adorable. Just hang in there and follow the flow, work for what you want and remember what you like, in the end you can't really go wrong. Right?
There's something... heart-tearing in a crying chibi. There really is TTATT
Hang in there, hunneh, and don't feel bad for feeling selfish. Take it as an encouragement to yourself. To try to deal with your goals once in a while, putting some energy into this (not that caring and encouraging others is a bad thing, in the contrary. But you still need some energy for yourself and just yourself sometimes. Or the engine just won't turn anymore. (<--- woah, look at the methaphore)
